Agreement update
Nufarm has amended and extended its Carinata offtake agreement with bp, building on the initial arrangement announced in 2022. The marketing and offtake term is extended to 2050 to create a long‑term framework to scale Carinata as a non‑food intermediate crop feedstock for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and Renewable Diesel (RD).
Commercial and supply terms
The amended deal is intended to support expansion of Carinata oil supply via an established, capital‑efficient value chain with partnerships from growers to biofuel producers. bp maintains continued access to purchase oil from the Nufarm Carinata Production System.
Funding and investment
Investment will follow a funding model linked to the achievement of stated progress milestones, enabling targeted spending on Carinata seed technology to deliver improved crop performance and varieties for growers while keeping Nufarm’s capital commitment at an acceptable level.
Scale and approach
The amendment positions Carinata to grow at scale using a disciplined, capital‑light investment model aimed at meeting rising demand for SAF and Renewable Diesel.
