MAIRE/Nextchem awarded early engineering and equipment contract for 60,000 t/y SAF plant in Indonesia

Key highlights
  • MAIRE/Nextchem (via KT Tech) awarded early engineering and proprietary equipment supply contract for a SAF plant in North Sumatra, Indonesia
  • Plant designed to produce 60,000 tonnes/year of Sustainable Aviation Fuel using palm oil mill effluent (POME) and certified used cooking oil
  • Project will deploy NX PTU and NX SAF BIO technologies; early engineering works will support the Final Investment Decision (FID)

Contract award

MAIRE reports that Nextchem, via its subsidiary KT Tech, secured a contract for early engineering works and supply of proprietary equipment for a Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) plant under development in North Sumatra, Indonesia.

Plant capacity and feedstocks

The facility is designed to produce 60,000 tonnes per year of SAF using palm oil mill effluent (POME) as the primary feedstock, alongside certified used cooking oil, focusing on locally available bio-feedstocks.

Technology and project stage

The project will deploy Nextchem's licensed NX PTU and NX SAF BIO technologies; the early engineering phase is intended to support the project's Final Investment Decision and advance low‑carbon aviation fuel deployment.
