Neste and United Airlines extend SAF supply deals at Schiphol and Chicago O’Hare
- Neste will supply Neste MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel blended with conventional jet fuel to United at Amsterdam (deliveries June–August 2026) and Chicago O’Hare (deliveries July 2026–June 2027).
- United used over 83,000 metric tons of SAF in 2025 (≈27.7 million gallons), a 104% increase year‑on‑year, expanding SAF use to six of its seven U.S. domestic hubs.
- Neste’s global SAF production capability is 1.5 million metric tons per annum and is planned to grow to 2.2 million metric tons in 2027 when the Rotterdam expansion completes.
- Neste MY SAF is produced from renewable raw materials such as used cooking oil and animal fat waste and is certified for commercial use when blended up to 50% with conventional jet fuel.
Agreement and supply schedule
Neste and United Airlines extended an existing SAF supply agreement to cover flights operating from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and Chicago O’Hare. Deliveries of Neste MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel blended with conventional jet fuel to United at Amsterdam began in June 2026 and continued through August 2026. Deliveries to Chicago O’Hare started in July 2026 and are planned to continue until June 2027.
Product and feedstocks
Neste MY SAF is produced from renewable raw materials such as used cooking oil and animal fat waste. The SAF is certified for commercial use after blending up to 50% with conventional jet fuel and is compatible with existing aircraft engines and fueling infrastructure.
Capacity and usage context
Neste’s current global SAF production capability is 1.5 million metric tons per year, rising to 2.2 million metric tons in 2027 following the Rotterdam refinery expansion. United reported using over 83,000 metric tons of SAF in 2025 (roughly 27.7 million gallons), a 104% increase over 2024, and expanded SAF use to three additional hubs, bringing its total SAF usage to six of seven domestic hubs.
