Momentive has started producing NXT™ P97 Silane at its Chennai facility to strengthen supply reliability and expand access to advanced tire technology for India and markets across IMEA and Asia‑Pacific. The investment is presented as aligning with India’s Make in India initiative by increasing domestic production of advanced materials and supporting the country’s role as a tire manufacturing hub.
Product performance and sustainability
NXT™ P97 Silane is formulated for silica‑reinforced tread compounds and is bio‑based, containing 79% renewable carbon. The product is said to optimize rolling resistance and wear performance and to improve mercaptosilane processing through enhanced filler dispersion and improved polymer–filler interaction. By enabling longer‑lasting tires and better fuel efficiency, Momentive states the silane may contribute to lower CO₂ and particulate emissions during the tire use phase.
