MOL Builds New Rubber-Bitumen Plant in Hungary

Investment and Production Capacity

The new rubber-bitumen plant in Zalaegerszeg, Hungary, represents an investment of approximately 9.3 million Euro. It is expected to produce 20,000 tons of rubber-bitumen annually by 2020.

Environmental Impact

The plant will utilize 3,000 tons of rubber scrap each year, contributing to the recycling of about half a million used tires. This accounts for 8-10 percent of Hungary's annual tire waste.

Existing Infrastructure

The Zala Refinery already operates a rubber-bitumen plant with a 5,000-ton capacity, launched in 2012. The new plant is being constructed to meet increased demand.

Employment and Efficiency

The new facility will support the efficient operation of the Zala Refinery and help maintain jobs for approximately 100 workers currently employed at the refinery.
