Deal overview
Metso and Gruvaktiebolaget Viscaria have signed an agreement for the delivery of key process equipment for the Viscaria copper mine in Kiruna, Sweden. The order value is approximately EUR 40 million and is booked in the Minerals segment’s 2026 third-quarter orders received.
Project scale and role
Viscaria aims for an annual production of 120,000 tonnes of copper concentrate, which the company says would make the mine Sweden’s second-largest copper producer and position it as a supplier to the European copper market.
Scope of delivery
Metso will supply a comprehensive flowsheet package: FIT™Crushing station with Nordberg® C Series™ jaw and Nordberg® HP Series™ cone crushers; a flotation circuit using TankCell® and Concorde Cell™ technologies; magnetic separators; filtration including Larox® PF and VPA filters; plus thickeners, slurry pumps, MHC™ hydrocyclone clusters, analyzers and process engineering services.
Context
The contract complements a previous January 2026 order for Select™ SAG and ball mills. Metso notes its early-stage involvement in the project and that most of the processing equipment will be delivered as part of its Metso Plus offering, supporting continuity from development into execution.
