Loop and Suez to Build Europe's First Infinite Loop™ Recycling Facility

Introduction

Loop Industries and SUEZ have announced plans to build the first Infinite Loop™ recycling facility in Europe. This facility will utilize advanced recycling technology to produce 100% recycled and infinitely recyclable PET plastic.

Facility Capabilities

The new facility will be the largest of its kind globally, capable of producing the equivalent of approximately 4.2 billion food-grade beverage bottles annually. Loop’s low-energy technology allows waste plastic to be recycled infinitely without quality degradation.

Environmental Impact

By leveraging Loop’s innovative technology, the facility will save 180,000 tons of CO2 annually, equivalent to approximately 418,000 barrels of oil. This initiative aligns with European regulations aimed at reducing the environmental impact of plastic packaging.

Project Timeline

Final site selection and engineering are expected to be completed by mid-2021, with the commissioning of the facility projected for 2023. This timeline reflects the urgency and commitment to addressing the growing demand for sustainable packaging solutions.
