Eli Lilly presents retatrutide, Foundayo and eloraTZP data at EASD 2026

Key highlights
  • TRIUMPH-2: retatrutide (GIP/GLP-1/glucagon triple agonist) produced mean weight loss up to 49.6 lbs (22.5 kg; 20.8%) and A1C reduction up to 1.6% at 80 weeks.
  • ACHIEVE-4: Foundayo (orforglipron) was non-inferior to insulin glargine and showed a 16% lower risk of MACE-4 (HR 0.84; 95.0% CI 0.59–1.20) and 23% lower risk of MACE-3 (HR 0.77; 95.0% CI 0.52–1.13).
  • EloraTZP (eloralintide + tirzepatide): Phase 1 addition of eloralintide 3 mg to tirzepatide 5 mg yielded 17% weight loss over 16 weeks versus 10% with tirzepatide 5 mg alone.
  • SURPASS-CVOT: Mounjaro (tirzepatide) showed non-inferiority vs Trulicity with an 8% lower MACE-3 risk (HR 0.92; 95.3% CI 0.83–1.01) while delivering greater A1C and weight reductions.

Event

Eli Lilly will present new cardiometabolic data at the 62nd Annual Meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) in Milan, Sept 28–Oct 2, 2026, and will host an industry symposium on Sept 28 (10:00–16:00 CEST) chaired by Prof. Rachel Batterham.

Retatrutide (TRIUMPH-2)

Phase 3 TRIUMPH-2 results for retatrutide, an investigational once-weekly GIP/GLP-1/glucagon triple receptor agonist, showed adults with obesity or overweight and type 2 diabetes lost up to an average 49.6 lbs (22.5 kg; 20.8%) and lowered A1C by up to an average 1.6% at 80 weeks.

Foundayo (ACHIEVE program)

ACHIEVE-4 showed Foundayo (orforglipron) met non-inferiority versus insulin glargine and signaled potential cardiovascular benefit with a 16% lower risk of MACE-4 (HR 0.84; 95.0% CI 0.59–1.20) and a 23% lower risk of MACE-3 (HR 0.77; 95.0% CI 0.52–1.13). Other ACHIEVE analyses reported faster time-to-goal A1C and weight outcomes versus dapagliflozin and oral semaglutide.

EloraTZP, Mounjaro and Zepbound

EloraTZP, a combination of the selective amylin receptor agonist eloralintide and tirzepatide, will have Phase 2 data presented; prior Phase 1 data showed adding eloralintide 3 mg to tirzepatide 5 mg produced 17% weight loss over 16 weeks versus 10% with tirzepatide 5 mg alone. Mounjaro (SURPASS-CVOT) demonstrated an 8% lower MACE-3 risk versus Trulicity (HR 0.92; 95.3% CI 0.83–1.01) alongside greater A1C and weight reductions, and Zepbound (SURMOUNT-5) produced distinct proteomic changes versus semaglutide in exploratory analyses.
