LG Chem has started mass production and supply of its first semiconductor stripper to Amkor Technology, a global OSAT leader. The product was customized and optimized for Amkor's new production line and successfully passed the rigorous qualification process required by the customer.

The semiconductor stripper is used to remove photoresist and process residue after circuit patterning. Compared with existing products, LG Chem's stripper reduces the process time required to remove photoresist and residue by approximately 50%, significantly improving manufacturing efficiency for advanced semiconductor packaging.
Strategic positioning
LG Chem entered the semiconductor stripper market by leveraging technical expertise from its display stripper business. The supply to Amkor strengthens its semiconductor packaging materials portfolio as the company accelerates growth in high-value electronic materials — including copper-clad laminates (CCL), die attach films (DAF) and photo imageable dielectric (PID) — amid rising demand driven by AI investments and high-bandwidth memory (HBM). This aligns with the company's earlier strategy to more than double the size of its electronics materials business.
