Partnership and products
LANXESS and Fuelcare will market LANXESS fuel biocides Kathon FP 1.5 and Preventol D2 across Europe; in the UK these products will be sold as FuelClear M15.
Regulatory status
Kathon FP 1.5 holds full EU union-wide approval under the Biocidal Products Regulation, supporting harmonised safety, efficacy and administrative use across member states.
Target sectors and applications
Primary applications are fuel storage preservation for maritime and rail operators, power generation, industrial and manufacturing sites, and transportation and logistics providers, covering rapid decontamination, shock treatment of heavily contaminated systems and preventive treatment of clean fuels.
Microbial risks and mitigation
Microbial growth at the fuel–water interface produces biomass, sludge and corrosive by-products that clog filters, contaminate tanks and cause corrosion; appropriate biocide strategy, accurate dosing and maintenance support reduce sludge formation, filter fouling, corrosion and operational downtime.
Operations and services
Fuelcare provides preservation programs and automated dosing technology and is expanding operational, storage and service capacity with hubs in Shrewsbury (UK), Venlo (NL) and Aberdeen (UK).
