New Manufacturing Facility
Huntsman Advanced Materials has expanded its production capacity at the Monthey site in Switzerland to manufacture multifunctional epoxy resins. The facility utilizes the latest process technology and advanced process control to ensure high product quality. Full industrial production is scheduled to begin in mid-2006.
Strategic Location
Switzerland was chosen for the new plant due to the significant growth potential of the products and Monthey being the largest Huntsman Advanced Materials manufacturing site. The site offers ample space for expansion and leverages the competencies of the local team for complex synthesis required in production processes.
Trial Runs and Production
In collaboration with customers and suppliers, initial trial runs and material transportation were conducted, producing sample quantities in six months—a process that would typically take two years. The Monthey factory complements the existing Huntsman Advanced Materials plant in McIntosh, Alabama.
Impact on Aerospace Industry
The new facility will double the global capacity for multifunctional resins, ensuring an unrivaled delivery capacity and reducing delivery times by nearly half. These resins are crucial in producing composite components like tail fins and ailerons in the aviation industry. The establishment of additional capacity in Switzerland highlights the strength of Airbus Industries and the growth of the European aviation sector, benefiting from a shorter supply chain and increased reliability.
