Overview

Godrej Agrovet inaugurated India's first Integrated Oil Palm Complex in Khammam, Telangana, bringing seed and genetics, nursery, an R&D centre, a mill and an upcoming refinery together on one site. The company says cumulative investment will be INR 300 Crore once the entire complex is operational.

Capacity and scale

The mill, the first by a private company in the state, has commenced operations at 30 tonnes per hour and is designed for expansion to 60 tonnes per hour. Godrej Agrovet has set a target to increase area under oil palm plantation in Telangana from the current 10,000 hectares to 30,000 hectares by 2030.

Genetics, R&D and farmer services

The site hosts a seed garden established in partnership with global companies to bring oil palm genetics expertise to India and an R&D centre focused on developing hybrid planting material optimised for Telangana's climatic conditions. The complex also houses a Samadhan Centre, a one-stop resource offering advisory support, farm inputs and services to oil palm farmers.

Leadership and government support

The inauguration was attended by Telangana officials including the Deputy Chief Minister and several state ministers, alongside Godrej leaders such as Nadir Godrej, Burjis Godrej, Sunil Kataria and Sougata Niyogi. Company executives said the integrated approach aims to improve quality control across the value chain and support edible oil security and farmer livelihoods.
