Facility Overview

Freepoint Eco-Systems LLC has announced the first shipment of pyrolysis oil (PyOil) from its upcycling facility in Hebron, Ohio. The facility converts 180 million pounds of waste plastic annually into PyOil, which can be used to manufacture new products.

Construction and Certification

Construction of the Hebron facility began in late 2022, and it is currently undergoing commissioning. The facility is ISCC Plus certified, ensuring its sustainability credentials in the bioeconomy and circular economy sectors.

Environmental Impact

By converting waste plastic into PyOil, the facility helps reduce landfill use and supports the circular economy. The PyOil is transported by rail to Shell USA's refining facility in Norco, Louisiana, further enhancing its carbon benefits by substituting traditional crude oil feedstocks.

Industry Significance

The successful operation of the Hebron facility demonstrates the commercial viability of advanced recycling capabilities. This is essential for expanding the availability of recycled materials and meeting the growing demand for certified circular products.
