Agreement

Fincantieri and Teijin Automotive Technologies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on the engineering of non-structural composite bulkheads for maritime vessels.

Material and certification

The bulkheads will be developed using an innovative carbon-based composite material patented by Aeronautical Service; the material has obtained non-combustibility certification required for onboard maritime application.

Roles and objectives

Teijin Automotive Technologies will lead engineering and industrialization activities with support from Fincantieri. The initiative focuses on weight reduction and integration of functions to meet stringent operational and safety requirements.

Strategic context

The collaboration supports Fincantieri’s industrial strategy to expand advanced-materials adoption across its portfolio, enabling greater design flexibility and advancing large-scale use of carbon-based composites and related technologies in civil and military shipbuilding.
