Deal overview
Evonik is selling selected production assets for pharmaceutical ingredients in Hanau to the ProChem Group. The transaction is expected to close on 19 June 2026 and transfers GMP‑compliant production facilities to the contract manufacturer.
Evonik strategic refocus
Evonik’s Health Care business is streamlining its asset footprint to focus investment and growth on advanced oral and injectable drug‑delivery technologies and precision biosolutions, notably lipids for mRNA and gene delivery, and advanced cell‑culture ingredients. As part of that strategy, Evonik discontinued keto acid production in Hanau at the end of 2025 and consolidated the entire pharmaceutical‑grade keto and amino acid portfolio under the REXIM® brand at sites in Wuming, China and Ham, France.
Hanau site and product scope
The Hanau site has supported APIs, intermediates and pharmaceutical lipids. While selected production assets are being sold, the site’s GMP facility for advanced pharmaceutical lipids will continue operating to provide clinical and small‑scale commercial quantities in line with Evonik’s focus on high‑growth areas.
ProChem expansion
ProChem says the acquisition gives it state‑of‑the‑art facilities, quality‑assured processes and industrial infrastructure to expand its service portfolio. ProChem is a multi‑site contract manufacturer offering synthesis, distillation, extraction, drying, mixing, grinding, sieving, packaging and in‑depth analytical testing across pharmaceuticals and related industries.
