Introduction

Evonik has introduced TROGAMID® R, a transparent polyamide made from recycled plastics. This innovation is part of a circular economy initiative in the eyewear industry.

Collaboration with Poliplastic SRL

Poliplastic SRL, a polymer recycler, processes TROGAMID® R from leftover shards of TROGAMID® material, which are by-products of eyewear manufacturing. This collaboration highlights the potential for sustainable practices in the industry.

Production Process

The process begins with the collection of scrap material, which Poliplastic SRL reprocesses into granules. These granules are then used to produce premium eyewear, such as the Nylo Zero® Milano and Roma series.

Future Expansion

Evonik and Poliplastic SRL are working to expand the supply of TROGAMID® R. Several lens and eyewear manufacturers have shown interest in joining the sourcing program, indicating a growing demand for sustainable materials.
