Evonik Expands HTPB Production Globally

Expansion Plans

Evonik is enhancing its global production of hydroxyl-terminated polybutadienes (HTPB) with significant investments. The company is expanding its HTPB production capacity at the Marl site, scheduled for completion in 2024, and establishing a new facility for POLYVEST® ST-E 60 polybutadienes in Shanghai by 2025.

New Developments

Construction is underway to increase output at Evonik's existing German site, with operations expected to commence in the second quarter of 2027. Additionally, Evonik has started the engineering phase for a new production facility in the Asian region.

Strategic Location

The location for the new plant in Asia has been strategically selected to leverage synergies with Evonik's existing assets, according to Dr. Jürgen Herwig, Head of Evonik’s polybutadienes business.
