Eni and KazMunayGas: first electricity from 120 MW gas unit at Mangystau hybrid plant

Milestone achieved
Eni and KazMunayGas, together with Eni’s subsidiary Plenitude, report First Industrial Electricity from the 120 MW Gas Power Plant, a core element of the 247 MW Mangystau Hybrid Power Plant in the Mangystau Region of Kazakhstan. The facility is positioned as a large‑scale hybrid installation combining solar, gas and planned wind generation to provide decarbonized and reliable electricity to KazMunayGas subsidiaries in the region.
Execution and safety
From the start of construction to first electricity, the project recorded more than 2 million man‑hours without a Lost Time Injury, cited as evidence of strong execution, safety performance and coordination with local stakeholders during delivery of complex energy infrastructure.
Phased development and next steps
The project follows a phased approach: the 50 MW Solar Power Plant was commissioned in September 2025; the gas unit delivered first electricity in July 2026 and is scheduled for final commissioning within Q3 2026; the remaining 77 MW Wind Power Plant is planned to enter operation in 2027, which will complete the hybrid configuration.
