- Elkem Silicones introduced two eco-designed elastomers (PURESIL ORG 0415 and ORG 0515) formulated in a sunflower seed-derived C15-19 alkane.
- PURESIL ORG 0415 is an elastomer gel offering smooth glide, moisture retention and a soft-focus effect, while ORG 0515 is an elastomer fluid with high lubricity and improved spreadability.
- Elkem also launched PURESIL ESG 03, a multifunctional emulsifying elastomer that enhances pigment and mineral UV filter dispersion, minimizes agglomeration and improves suspension and long-term stability in anhydrous systems and as a co-emulsifier in W/Si and W/O emulsions.
- The products were presented at in-cosmetics Global 2026 in Paris (April 14–16) with prototype formulations demonstrating sensory and sustainability performance.
Eco-designed elastomers
Elkem Silicones added PURESIL™ ORG 0415 and ORG 0515, elastomer grades formulated in a sunflower seed–derived C15–19 alkane; ORG 0415 is an elastomer gel offering smooth glide, silky after‑feel, long‑lasting moisture retention and a soft‑focus effect and helps structure mineral sunscreens into a uniform film to support SPF, while ORG 0515 is an elastomer fluid blend providing high lubricity, lustrous gloss, improved spreadability and a smooth finish for skin, hair, sun care and color cosmetics.
Emulsifying elastomer (ESG 03)
PURESIL™ ESG 03 is a multifunctional emulsifying elastomer blend designed to improve pigment and mineral UV filter dispersion in elastomer gel matrices, providing strong suspension power, reduced agglomeration and enhanced long‑term stability; it is suitable for anhydrous systems and as a co‑emulsifier in water‑in‑silicone and water‑in‑oil emulsions.
Formulation impact and sustainability
The ORG series uses a biobased carrier to reduce reliance on fossil‑based ingredients while maintaining sensory and functional performance, enabling formulators to improve the environmental profile of cosmetic formulations.
Event demonstration
The products were presented at in‑cosmetics Global 2026 (April 14–16) at Booth 2C111 with prototype formulations available for hands‑on evaluation.
