ISCC PLUS Certification
Dow's isocyanates manufacturing facility in Freeport, Texas, has achieved ISCC PLUS certification. This certification supports Dow's efforts to enhance sustainable production and supply chain transparency in North America.
Bio-Circular Materials
The certification allows the facility to offer isocyanate products with bio-based materials from Dow's Ecolibrium portfolio through a mass balance approach. This involves using alternative feedstocks based on bio-circular materials, ensuring no impact on product quality while providing sustainability benefits and a reduced carbon footprint.
Product Offerings
The certified products include PAPI 580N REN for insulation boards and panels, PAPI 23 REN for furniture and mattress foams, SPECFLEX NES 1540 REN for automotive NVH solutions, and ISONATE 143L REN for coatings, adhesives, sealants, and elastomer formulations.
Future Expansion
The certification of the Freeport MDI Complex opens opportunities for expanding the product range as more alternative feedstocks become available in North America. In Europe, Dow already uses waste from the automotive industry to replace fossil-based feedstocks, offering products with circular material attributed by mass balance.
