Coogee expands Kwinana bulk storage for UAN and caustic soda

Project scope
Coogee reached a final investment decision in April to add significant new bulk storage at its Kwinana site. The project includes 50,000 metric tonnes of dedicated tankage for liquid fertiliser (UAN) and additional bulk tanks that raise caustic soda storage at Kwinana to 100,000 metric tonnes.
Markets and feedstocks
The UAN tanks support Western Australian farmers by providing increased security of supply and road-tanker gantries to handle peak crop growing periods. Caustic soda is identified as an essential feedstock for the lithium industry; Coogee currently manufactures caustic soda at its Kwinana and Kemerton chlor-alkali facilities.
Logistics and schedule
Both the new UAN and caustic soda terminals will be directly connected by pipeline to the Kwinana Bulk Jetty (KBJ). Construction is well advanced and the facilities are scheduled to be commissioned and operational by Q2 2021.
