Sinopec to Lead Hydrogen Energy Standardization Committees Approved by National Energy Administration

Committee Approval

The National Energy Administration has approved the formation of four standardization technical committees in the hydrogen energy sector. These committees will focus on Basic and General, Preparation, Storage and Transportation, and Applications.

Sinopec's Role

Sinopec has been designated as the industry management organization responsible for daily management functions. The company will lead the Hydrogen Energy Basic and General Standardization Technical Committee and the Hydrogen Energy Application Standardization Technical Committee, with secretariats located at the Petrochemical Research Institute.

Committee Responsibilities

The committees will standardize various aspects of hydrogen energy, including requirements, evaluation systems, water electrolysis hydrogen production, renewable and fossil energy hydrogen production, and hydrogen storage and transportation technology. They will also address hydrogen refueling, hydrogen-based fuels, and hydrogen-electric synergy.

Objectives and Goals

Sinopec will coordinate tasks focusing on standard system construction, technology transformation, and international alignment. The aim is to accelerate the development of standards for key industrial chain links and convert technological innovations into industry standards. The ultimate goal is to integrate hydrogen energy into the existing energy system and industry ecology, facilitating large-scale and commercial application.
