The project is scheduled for completion by mid-2020, with the new lines operational by September 2019.

The investment also covers new printing technology, a state-of-the-art vision inspection system, expanded softgel coating capabilities, and additional packaging capacity. These enhancements aim to streamline production and improve product quality.

Workforce Growth

To support the increased production output, the Eberbach facility will grow its workforce by more than 10% across Operations, Quality Control, and related supporting functions. This expansion reflects the facility's importance in Catalent's global operations.

Facility Capabilities

The 360,000 square-feet Eberbach facility offers integrated softgel manufacturing services, simplifying supply chain management and accelerating time-to-market for products. It handles a range of products, including prescription and over-the-counter pharmaceuticals, nutritional supplements, medical devices, and animal health products. The facility is also equipped to handle highly potent and cytotoxic compounds within an isolated, self-contained cytotoxic suite.

Previous Expansions

This latest investment follows a previous expansion in early 2015, which included additional softgel coating and blister packaging equipment. The ongoing enhancements underscore Catalent's commitment to meeting the evolving needs of its customers and the market.
