New Technology Center in Münster
Cabot Corporation announced plans to establish a state-of-the-art technology center in Münster, Germany. This facility will focus on technical collaboration with customers to accelerate innovation in battery materials within Europe. The center is set to begin operations by April 2023, with an expansion planned for 2024.
Enhanced Capabilities and Collaboration
The EMEA Technology Center will enhance Cabot's battery materials development capabilities and strengthen technology engagements with battery manufacturers, EV customers, and partners in Europe. The center will feature advanced testing equipment to provide top-tier technical application capabilities for the global battery industry.
Innovative Battery Solutions
Cabot is developing solutions for current and next-generation battery technologies, including high nickel cathode, silicon-containing anode, dry and aqueous electrode processing, and solid-state battery materials. These innovations have enabled Cabot to build strong partnerships with top global battery producers.
Support for Key Products
The center will support Cabot’s range of conductive carbon additive (CCA) products, including conductive carbons, carbon nanotubes (CNTs), and carbon nanostructures (CNS), as well as blends and dispersions. It will also support other product lines like fumed alumina for separator and cathode coatings, and aerogel for thermal management.
Strategic Location and Collaboration
Located near leading battery research institutions, local universities, and technology companies, the new laboratory aims to build a collaboration ecosystem and attract talented scientists and engineers. Cabot is also a member of the European Battery Alliance (EBA), engaging with stakeholders to support the growing battery market in Europe.
