Chair removal
The Board of BP p.l.c. unanimously decided that Albert Manifold should no longer serve as Chair and Director with immediate effect, following serious concerns raised to the Board about governance standards, oversight and conduct deemed unacceptable.
Interim leadership and succession
The Board has appointed Ian Tyler as Interim Chair with immediate effect and will initiate a process to appoint a permanent Chair.
Leadership and organisational changes
Senior Independent Director Amanda Blanc said the Board was surprised and disappointed by the governance issues; the Board expressed confidence in CEO Meg O’Neill and noted her actions to simplify and strengthen the organisation, including a move to a clearly defined upstream/downstream model.
