Borouge International & Lanxess advance circular acetone with Borvida B‑acetone

Borouge International supplies Lanxess with Borvida™ B‑acetone, an ISCC PLUS‑certified acetone produced from non‑food waste and residue biomass. The product is chemically identical to conventional acetone and is part of the Borvida portfolio of renewable and circular base chemicals.

Chain of custody and performance

Bio‑based, renewable content is tracked using a Mass Balance chain‑of‑custody model from feedstock to final product. Mass‑balanced acetone produced with Borvida™ B‑acetone has been used in industrial production for several years and offers the same properties and performance as conventional acetone.

Environmental claim and lifecycle basis

The company cites a carbon footprint reduction of up to 175% per kilogram compared with regular acetone, based on a Life Cycle Assessment for a cradle‑to‑gate system boundary including biogenic carbon removals and emissions.
