BASF expands Ultradur portfolio with PCR-PET reinforced PBT/PET grades

Key highlights
  • Glassfiber-reinforced PBT/PET compounds containing up to 30% post-consumer recycled PET (PCR-PET).
  • RC1 denotes use of PCR-PET sourced from packaging waste streams that do not compete with bottle-to-bottle recycling.
  • Targeted at structural automotive parts such as brackets, housings, structural parts and connectors, with variants offering different reinforcement levels.
  • BASF will showcase the new Ultradur RC1 grades at Fakuma 2026 and in a webinar on 19 November 2026.

Product launch

BASF expands its Ultradur® range with RC1 PBT/PET compounds reinforced with glass fiber and containing up to 30% post-consumer recycled PET (PCR-PET).

Material and performance

The RC1 grades are developed to closely match properties of conventional virgin-based grades, delivering the strength, stiffness and dimensional stability required for demanding engineering applications while maintaining processability.

Applications and variants

The portfolio is designed for structural automotive components—brackets, housings, structural parts and connectors—and comprises variants with different reinforcement levels to address a broad range of application requirements.

Sustainability and availability

RC1 uses PCR-PET sourced from packaging waste streams that do not compete with bottle-to-bottle recycling, directing underutilized material into high-value applications. The grades can contribute to reducing Scope 3.1 emissions and support compliance with evolving recycled-content regulations. BASF will present the products at Fakuma 2026 and provide further technical details in a webinar on 19 November 2026.
