Decision and timing
24 September 2025, Ludwigshafen, Germany — BASF will exit the hydrosulfites business and close its hydrosulfites production facility at the Ludwigshafen site following a strategic review of the site's production setup.
Products being phased out
The company will phase out supply of Hydrosulfite F, HydroBlue® 90, HydroBlue® 92, Hydrosulfite Evo, Adlite® and Blankit.
Workforce and transition
About 65 employees currently working in the hydrosulfites business will be supported in finding new roles within the BASF Group.
Applications
Hydrosulfites are used as reducing agents in textile dyeing and as bleaching additives in pulp and paper applications.
