Arkema's Carbon Footprint Methodology Certified by TÜV Rheinland

Key highlights
  • Arkema's carbon footprint methodology is certified by TÜV Rheinland under ISO 14067:2018.
  • The calculation covers 'cradle to gate' emissions, including raw materials, energy, and waste.
  • Arkema aims for 90% of sales covered by LCA by 2030 with a new digital tool.
  • The tool ensures no quality gap between manual and automated carbon footprint assessments.

Certification Achievement

Arkema's product carbon footprint (PCF) calculation methodology has been validated and certified by TÜV Rheinland, adhering to the ISO 14067:2018 standard. This certification confirms the robustness of Arkema's PCF calculations shared with customers.

Calculation Scope

The methodology covers "cradle to gate" emissions, accounting for raw materials, energy consumption, direct emissions, and waste generated during product manufacturing. It utilizes Arkema's internal site-specific data, supplier data, and external databases.

Digital Tool Development

Alongside the certification, Arkema developed a digital tool to automate PCF calculations. This tool was included in the TÜV Rheinland certification process, ensuring consistency between manual and automated assessments.

Future Goals

Arkema aims to cover 90% of its sales with a life cycle assessment (LCA) by 2030, leveraging the new tool to enhance collaboration with business units, suppliers, and customers for sustainable performance.
