Expansion scope

The Mumbai site will add local production of several pharma inhalation technologies, including Aptar’s pressurized metered dose inhaler (pMDI) valve, breath‑actuated systems and multi dose nasal spray systems. The expansion adds molding capability to the site’s existing assembly operations.

Capacity and local role

With the investment, the Mumbai manufacturing footprint has increased to 11,300 m². Aptar says the broadened site role will support evolving customer needs and enhance local capability and supply resilience to serve customers in India and across Southeast Asia with greater proximity.

Timeline and network

Aptar established a commercial presence in Mumbai in 1998, opened a Rabale assembly facility in 2012 and a Hyderabad manufacturing site for CPG products in 2020. A state‑of‑the‑art pharma site opened in Taloja in 2023. The expanded Mumbai operations were inaugurated on October 5, 2026.

Strategic rationale

Company leadership framed the investment as part of a long‑term strategy to deepen engagement in India, citing the market’s dynamics and growth potential. Aptar noted India’s rapid urbanization, expanding healthcare access, and investments in manufacturing and digital infrastructure as drivers for further opportunity.
