Alfa Laval to fully integrate Desmet to expand oils, fats and biofuel engineering

Key highlights
  • Alfa Laval acquired Desmet in 2022, including the RoseDowns and Stolz units.
  • Full integration of Desmet into Alfa Laval is planned to be completed by July 2027.
  • Desmet will become a product and process technology brand within Alfa Laval.
  • The combined global sales, service and supply network will extend local teams in more than 150 countries.

Deal and timeline

Alfa Laval, which acquired Desmet in 2022 (including the RoseDowns and Stolz units), has started the phased process to fully integrate Desmet into its Business Unit Process Engineering Solutions within the Food & Pharma Division. The integration is expected to be completed by July 2027.

Strategic rationale

The companies will combine Desmet’s upstream extraction and processing expertise with Alfa Laval’s separation, heat transfer and downstream processing technologies to create a broader, more integrated engineered‑solutions offering across the oils, fats and biofuel value chain, from seed to end product. The Desmet brand will be retained as a product and process technology brand within Alfa Laval.

Execution and customer impact

The integration will be executed in phases to ensure continuity for customers, partners and ongoing projects. Alfa Laval says the move should simplify project execution, reduce complexity, accelerate innovation and extend its joint global sales, service and supply network with local teams in more than 150 countries.
