Airgas (Air Liquide) supplies high-pressure nitrogen for NASA Artemis II

Key highlights
  • Artemis II was a 10-day crewed mission and the first human trip to lunar space in over 50 years.
  • Airgas (Air Liquide) supplied mission-critical high-pressure nitrogen from its Merritt Island facility to support Kennedy Space Center launch operations.
  • Airgas delivered peak high-flow nitrogen rates to support the Space Launch System during final countdown and liftoff.
  • The Group also supplies cryogenic fluids, high-purity rare gases, high-flow pumping and pipeline services, onsite supplies and Air Separation Units (ASUs) for space applications.

Artemis II support

Artemis II was a 10-day crewed mission, the first human trip to lunar space in over 50 years; Airgas supplied mission-critical high-pressure nitrogen for launch operations at Kennedy Space Center, managed and delivered from its Merritt Island, Florida facility.

Launch gas delivery

The Merritt Island team achieved peak high-flow nitrogen rates required to support the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket during final countdown and liftoff.

Space supply-chain capabilities

Airgas and Air Liquide provide ground-based infrastructure, cryogenic equipment and systems, cryogenic fluids and high-purity rare gases for propulsion, plus high-flow nitrogen pumping and pipeline services, dedicated onsite supplies and Air Separation Units (ASUs) for specialized space applications.
