New Capacity at Gendorf Plant
Clariant has initiated additional capacity for Phosphate Esters (P-Esters) at its Gendorf, Germany plant, complementing its existing production at the Knapsack facility. P-Esters are crucial in various industrial and consumer applications, serving as emulsifiers, wetting and dispersing agents, antistatic agents, and extreme pressure/antiwear additives for metalworking fluids.
Supporting Global Demand
The new capacity at Gendorf is designed to meet the global demand in several market segments, including Industrial Lubricants, Paints & Coatings, Crop Solutions, and Personal Care. This expansion also opens up opportunities for Clariant to innovate and develop new products for emerging application areas.
Innovative Products
Among the new products being manufactured at Gendorf are Hostaphat® 2408 K and Emulsogen® FT. Hostaphat 2408 K is an anionic emulsifier used in emulsion polymerization and pigment pastes production, offering benefits like particle size distribution control and corrosion inhibition in water-based metal coatings. Emulsogen FT is another anionic emulsifier, ideal for producing vinyl acetate dispersions and improving freeze-thaw stability, particularly in regions with wide temperature ranges.
Strategic Benefits
Dr. Alexander Snell, Head of Sales Industrial Applications EMEA, emphasized that the new capacity at Gendorf will enhance the global availability of P-Esters for customers. He also noted that P-Esters' versatility allows for new product developments, aligning with Clariant's broader strategy to become a solution provider for dispersing agents in the Paints & Coatings sector.
