- Evonik has started two new plant units for crosslinking activators at its Wesseling site.
- The units produce triallyl cyanurate (TAC) and triallyl isocyanurate (TAICROS®).
- TAICROS® improves EVA films in solar panels, enhancing protection and efficiency.
- TAC is used in automotive rubber materials to increase aging resistance.
New Production Units
Evonik has initiated two new plant units at its Wesseling site for the production of crosslinking activators. These units will produce triallyl cyanurate (TAC) and triallyl isocyanurate (TAICROS®), which are essential for enhancing the quality of plastics and rubber.
Applications in Photovoltaics
TAICROS® is particularly beneficial for the photovoltaics sector. It enhances the quality of EVA films that encase silicon cells in solar panels, providing protection from environmental influences. Additionally, TAICROS® speeds up the crosslinking process, resulting in a quicker lamination process and improved efficiency for customers.
Automotive Uses
TAC is primarily used in high-quality rubber materials such as hoses and cable coatings in the automotive industry. It increases the aging resistance of these materials, thereby extending their life expectancy.
Integrated Production System
The new plant units are connected to an existing cyanuric chloride plant at the Wesseling site. Cyanuric chloride is a key source material for producing TAC and TAICROS®.
