Investment and Timeline

Novasep is investing €30 million to build the world's largest chromatography plant for producing a large volume commercial API. The plant, located at Novasep’s Mourenx site in France, will be operational and validated within 18 months.

Technological Advancements

The new facility will feature advanced Varicol® continuous chromatography systems with 1,200 mm diameter columns, operated at up to 70 bars. These systems will enable the production of highly purified APIs from complex mixtures and integrate sophisticated solvent recovery systems, achieving 99.9% solvent recycling for a cost-effective and environmentally friendly process.

Global Expansion

This investment follows two other significant global expansions by Novasep in 2012: a new 2,000m2 facility in Shanghai, China, and a €3 million investment to expand Highly Potent API (HPAPI) manufacturing capabilities in Le Mans, France.

Support and Collaboration

The €30 million investment is supported by various partners, including the association of local authorities of Lacq, the General Council of Pyrénées Atlantiques, the Regional Council of Aquitaine, the Economic Development Bureau, DIRECCTE Aquitaine, the Prefecture of Pyrénées Atlantiques, Total Group, and OSEO. The plant will leverage the SOBEGI platform’s utility supply.
