Zueitina Oil Company is a Libyan oil and gas operating company headquartered in Tripoli. Established in 1986 by General People's Committee Decision No. 351/1986 following the freezing of Occidental International's assets, it was created as a fully Libyan-owned entity to manage oil operations under existing concession and production-sharing agreements involving the National Oil Corporation (NOC), Occidental, and OMV Libya Ltd.
The company serves as the primary operator for multiple fields primarily in the Sirte Basin, including Intisar (Block 103), fields in Block 102, Al-Hakim, Zella, and others. Its activities encompass exploration support, drilling, production, processing of crude oil and gas condensates, pipeline management, and export handling through the Zueitina Terminal on the Gulf of Sidra. It produces around 58,000 barrels of oil per day plus condensates and generates power for its facilities while desalting water for operations.
Crude from its fields, known internationally as Zueitina Blend, is exported via the terminal, which also handles volumes for partners including OMV, Eni, and Wintershall. Asset ownership typically features NOC holding an 81% interest with OMV at 19% in key infrastructure and fields, under joint operating and EPSA agreements renewed in 2008. The company employs over 2,000 staff, mostly Libyan nationals, and focuses on maintenance, safety, and field development projects.
As a key NOC subsidiary and operator in Libya's upstream sector, Zueitina Oil Company plays a significant role in national oil production and exports, partnering with international firms like OMV on discoveries and reservoir development while adhering to Libyan oil policy and regulations.
