Yanbu Aramco Sinopec Refining Company (YASREF) is a downstream joint venture between Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Aramco, 62.5%) and China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec, 37.5%). Based in Yanbu Industrial City on Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coast, the company owns and operates the Yasref refinery, a full‑conversion complex commissioned in 2015 with a nameplate capacity of approximately 400,000 barrels per day of Arabian heavy crude.
The refinery produces low‑sulfur diesel, gasoline, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), naphtha and other light ends, alongside by‑products such as sulfur and petroleum coke. Output serves both domestic consumers and export markets via Yanbu’s port infrastructure. Key processing units include hydrocracking, delayed coking and desulfurization, supported by extensive utilities and offsites, enabling the production of clean fuels that meet international specifications.
