Woodside Energy (LA) Investments LLC is a wholly owned U.S. subsidiary of Woodside Energy Group Ltd, an Australian-headquartered energy company. It serves as an investment holding and supply entity for Woodside’s interests in the Louisiana LNG project and associated infrastructure in the United States.
The company holds a 20% interest in Driftwood Pipeline LLC and participates in the broader Louisiana LNG development, which includes the foundation phase of three liquefaction trains with a combined capacity of 16.5 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa). The project, located near Lake Charles in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, is under construction with first LNG targeted for 2029 and a total permitted capacity of 27.6 Mtpa across five trains. It utilizes Chart IPSMR® liquefaction technology and Baker Hughes LM6000PF+ gas turbines, with Bechtel as the EPC contractor.
Woodside Energy (LA) Investments LLC acts as the designated supplier under long-term LNG sale and purchase agreements from Woodside’s equity share in the project’s holding company (HoldCo). This includes a 20-year agreement to supply up to 3 Mtpa of LNG to QatarEnergy on a free-on-board basis, ramping up from Train 2 startup. The entity operates within Woodside’s U.S. portfolio, supporting the parent company’s strategy to expand its global LNG production and export capabilities. Woodside acquired the project assets through the 2024 purchase of Tellurian Inc., subsequently renaming related entities.
As part of the Woodside group, the company contributes to the development of one of the largest greenfield LNG projects in U.S. history, positioning Woodside as a significant player in the international LNG market alongside partners such as Stonepeak and Williams.
