About Vetyalfa

Vetyalfa Oy is a Finnish company founded in 2024 and headquartered in Helsinki. It is a subsidiary of Tuulialfa Oy, a renewable energy developer focused on wind power, and operates within the Alfa Group alongside SolarAlfa Oy.

The company specializes in developing large-scale green hydrogen production projects powered by renewable energy from wind and solar sources. Its portfolio includes hydrogen refineries with downstream processing for synthetic fuels such as e-methanol, e-methane, and e-ammonia. Key projects are located in northern Finland, including the Cloudberry project in Vaala (up to 1,000 MW electrolyser capacity), facilities in Utajärvi, Kemijärvi, and Rovaniemi.

In 2026, Vetyalfa/Cloudberry was selected in the European Commission's third Hydrogen Bank auction, receiving approximately €224 million from the EU Innovation Fund for a 500 MWe electrolyser expected to produce over 500,000 tonnes of hydrogen in 10 years, avoiding around 3.5 Mt CO₂e. The company has also secured €150 million in national investment aid from Business Finland for its Utajärvi project.
