Verdalia Bioenergy is a European biomethane (renewable natural gas) platform that develops, acquires, builds, and operates anaerobic digestion and gas-upgrading plants. Its facilities convert agricultural residues, animal manure, and other organic by-products into pipeline-quality biomethane, alongside co-products such as biofertilizers and biogenic CO2. By capturing methane from organic waste and substituting fossil natural gas, the company contributes to greenhouse-gas reduction and circular-economy goals.
Backed by Goldman Sachs Asset Management, Verdalia focuses on projects in Spain and Italy and partners with farmers, waste managers, and industrial offtakers through long-term feedstock and gas sales agreements. The company’s capabilities span project development, engineering, construction, and operations, with an emphasis on reliable, grid-compatible biomethane supply and sustainable waste-to-energy solutions.
The plants, operational by Q2 2026, will produce 230 GWh of biomethane annually, eliminating 53,000 tons of CO2 emissions. ESG consultants Healthy Business Advisory will partner on the projects.
The acquisition includes 7 plants in Brescia with 190 GWh capacity, expanding Verdalia's European presence. The plants process animal residues and agricultural by-products, reducing 65,000 tonnes of emissions annually.
