United Capital Fertilizer Zambia Company Limited (UCF) is a vertically integrated fertilizer manufacturer headquartered in Chilanga District, Lusaka Province, Zambia. The company produces synthetic fertilizers including NPK and other customized granulated blends, urea, synthetic liquid ammonia, ammonium nitrate, and related products such as food-grade carbon dioxide. Its facilities feature modern production technology with an installed capacity of up to 800,000 metric tons per year of compound fertilizers, plus urea and ammonia units.
Incorporated on 23 August 2021, UCF developed Zambia's first major ultra-modern fertilizer complex as part of the Wonderful Industrial Park. The site includes compound fertilizer plants that became operational earlier, a urea plant commissioned in October 2025, and an 85 MW thermal power plant. A major Phase II expansion, with groundbreaking on 20 October 2026, is adding substantial new capacity for ammonia, urea, and ammonium nitrate at a cost of approximately US$1.6 billion.
UCF is a subsidiary of the Wonderful Group of Companies Limited, a Chinese-owned industrial conglomerate founded in 2011 and led by businessman Huang Yaochi. The company supplies Zambia's domestic agricultural sector and exports to regional markets including Tanzania, Botswana, Zimbabwe, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Malawi. It supports national food security goals, reduces import dependence, and has generated thousands of direct jobs through construction and operations.
As one of Zambia's leading fertilizer producers, UCF positions itself as a key contributor to Southern African agricultural productivity with sustainable, locally manufactured inputs.
