Formed for the development of the Ascend Elements Apex 1 facility, the joint venture served as the primary design-build contractor for the approximately $1 billion battery cathode precursor manufacturing plant located in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. The project, spanning 140 acres, was intended to be North America's first such facility using sustainable recycling processes for electric vehicle battery materials.

In addition to construction services, the joint venture became involved in legal proceedings regarding payment disputes and subsequently acquired ownership of the partially completed Apex 1 site through a Chapter 11 bankruptcy auction in 2026. It now holds the property and is exploring options for its completion and future use in the battery supply chain.

With operations centered in the United States, the entity leverages the expertise of its parent companies in large-scale infrastructure and industrial builds. Turner Construction, based in New York, and Kokosing Industrial, headquartered in Ohio, bring decades of experience to projects supporting the transition to electric vehicles and domestic manufacturing capabilities.

The joint venture plays a key role in advancing U.S. battery materials production infrastructure amid growing demand for sustainable energy solutions.
