About terralayr

terralayr AG is a Swiss-based energy storage company headquartered in Zug, with operations focused on Germany. Founded in 2023, it develops, owns, operates, and aggregates grid-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) to provide on-demand energy flexibility services.

The company manages a portfolio of BESS assets, including over 150 MW currently operating or under construction, approximately 200 MW ready-to-build, and a multi-gigawatt development pipeline. Through its proprietary LAYR cloud platform, terralayr virtualizes and aggregates its own and third-party battery assets, enabling utilities, grid operators, power traders, and large consumers to access flexible capacity without owning physical infrastructure.

Recent activities include securing €192 million in equity financing led by Eurazeo for portfolio expansion, €60 million in debt for a nine-project BESS portfolio, partnerships such as with RWE for marketing virtual batteries and be.storaged for project execution, and full acquisition of greenfield developer Big Battery Deutschland (BBD) to bolster its pipeline exceeding 1 GW.
