Trans Adriatic Pipeline AG (TAP) is the owner and operator of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline, a strategic natural gas transmission system forming part of Europe’s Southern Gas Corridor. Based in Switzerland, the company oversees an approximately 878-km pipeline that starts at the Greece–Turkey border, crosses Greece and Albania, traverses the Adriatic Sea, and connects to the Italian gas network in southern Italy.
The pipeline entered commercial operation in 2020 with an initial capacity of about 10 billion cubic meters (bcm) per year, with expansion potential to roughly 20 bcm through additional compression. By enabling the flow of Caspian gas to European markets, TAP enhances supply diversification and supports energy and feedstock availability for industrial users—including the chemicals sector—in Italy and interconnected regions.
