TA’ZIZ Methanol Company is a joint venture between TA’ZIZ—a chemicals platform established in 2020 by ADNOC and ADQ—and Swiss methanol producer Proman. The company is developing the United Arab Emirates' first world-scale methanol plant at the TA’ZIZ Industrial Chemicals Zone in Al Ruwais Industrial City, Abu Dhabi.
The facility, with a nameplate capacity of 1.8 million tonnes per annum, will produce methanol from natural gas feedstock supplied under a 25-year agreement with ADNOC Gas. Powered by clean grid energy, it is designed to be among the world's most energy-efficient methanol plants. Construction is underway following the award of a $1.7 billion EPC contract to Samsung E&A in early 2025, with commercial operations targeted for 2028.
In May 2026, the company achieved financial close on $2 billion in financing, comprising a syndicated loan and Islamic facility from 11 international banks. Long-term offtake agreements are in place with partners including ADNOC and Proman’s marketing arm Valenz.
