The center focuses on green shipping, floating offshore wind, carbon capture utilization and storage (CCUS), hydrogen/ammonia systems, batteries, and hybrid solutions. Key facilities include the Energy House in Stord—a full-scale test center for multi-fuel systems (hydrogen, ammonia, LNG, biogas), power electronics, fuel cells, and integrated energy architectures—and access to the Zephyros floating offshore wind turbine plus vessels for real-world maritime testing. It supports companies with testing, validation, certification, and funding applications in Norwegian and European programmes.

Headquartered in Stord, Vestland, Norway, near maritime clusters, it operates nationally and collaborates internationally. As a 0-profit entity with no commercial purpose or dividends, it is owned via Sustainable Energy Holding AS by partners including Norce Innovation AS, Unitech Offshore AS, Maritime CleanTech, Haugaland Kraft AS, and Vestlandets Innovasjonsselskap AS. Positioned as a critical innovation enabler, it reduces development risks and costs for the maritime, offshore, and energy sectors transitioning to low-carbon solutions.
