Summit Transition Partners Limited (STP) is a joint venture majority-owned by Sumitomo Corporation in partnership with TPK. The company focuses on investments in utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) in the UK.
STP is developing a portfolio of five BESS projects with a combined capacity of approximately 694 MW, in collaboration with Gresham House Energy Storage Fund. The first three projects (397 MW) are slated for construction start within the current fiscal year, with the remaining two (297 MW) under exclusivity for phased development.
The initiative supports the UK’s growing need for grid-scale storage to balance renewable energy supply and demand, amid strengthening regulatory backing for the sector. It aligns with Sumitomo’s broader UK activities in offshore wind and power trading.
