St. Bernard Renewables LLC (SBR) is a U.S.-based renewable fuels company operating a biorefining unit co-located with the Chalmette Refinery in St. Bernard Parish (Greater New Orleans), Louisiana. The facility converts biogenic feedstocks—such as used cooking oil, tallow, and vegetable oils—into renewable diesel via hydroprocessing, with the capability to produce sustainable aviation fuel depending on market needs and configuration.
SBR is a joint venture between PBF Energy and Eni Sustainable Mobility. By leveraging existing refinery utilities, hydrogen, and logistics at the Chalmette site, the operation supplies low-carbon fuels into U.S. markets under federal and state programs. Co-products can include naphtha and liquefied petroleum gases. The project reflects ongoing efforts on the U.S. Gulf Coast to adapt legacy refining assets for lower-carbon liquid fuel production.
