Sinopec Petroleum Exploration and Production Research Institute (Sinopec PEPRI) is the upstream research and technical service institute of China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec). It conducts applied R&D and delivers engineering solutions across the exploration and production lifecycle, supporting oil and gas discovery, appraisal, field development planning, and operations for Sinopec’s domestic and international assets.
Core capabilities span geoscience and petroleum engineering, including seismic acquisition and interpretation, well logging and petrophysics, basin and play evaluation, reservoir characterization and simulation, drilling and completion technologies, production optimization, and enhanced oil recovery. The institute also works on unconventional resources such as shale and tight formations, integrates digital subsurface modeling and data management, and contributes to technical standards and field pilots. Its work supports reliable hydrocarbon feedstock supply to Sinopec’s refining and petrochemical system and involves collaboration with universities and industry partners.
