Scottish Enterprise

Scottish Enterprise is Scotland’s national economic development agency and a non‑departmental public body of the Scottish Government. It works to grow Scotland’s economy by supporting business innovation, investment, and internationalisation across key sectors.

For the chemical industry, Scottish Enterprise provides funding and advisory support for R&D, process innovation, scale‑up, and capital investment, and helps companies develop export markets and attract inward investment. The agency collaborates with industry, academia, and government on cluster development, skills, and supply‑chain strengthening, including initiatives relevant to industrial biotechnology, advanced manufacturing, and downstream chemical processing.

Scottish Enterprise also backs projects that advance net‑zero goals in chemicals and related manufacturing—such as efficiency upgrades, digitalisation, and low‑carbon and circular economy solutions—aimed at improving productivity and competitiveness while reducing emissions.
